About this work
A 1983 acrylic on canvas by Charles Hinman — a unique, one-of-a-kind work. Hand signed and dated on verso by the artist. The work is in excellent condition and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
Charles Hinman was introduced to the New York art scene in 1964 in a show at the Sidney Janis Gallery titled SEVEN NEW ARTISTS. His work, which escaped the rectangle from the start, was noticed by Richard Feigen, and he joined Feigen's gallery shortly thereafter. During the next half dozen years with Feigen, his canvasses became three-dimensional, and they have been distinguished by these shapes ever since. The exposure at Feigen resulted in his being collected by many distinguished private collectors as well as a number of major museums in the United States and around the world.
